I have owned for the last 4 years.The car was originally registered
in England on the 26th of June 1972 and bought at West Sussex Motors, Worthing
by a Mr Barker, reg no. - VPX448K. I have a book that came with the car which is a
VW Diagnosis Punch Card Booklet and it has the info. on a sticker which is listed above.
The book also has a stamp with a date in the middle and an arrow pointing to a number
around the outside which goes from 1-12. I thought it might be a time stamp??
The date is 30th March, 1972 and there is the letter R on its own. Anyway
the car was imported into Ireland by a Mr M Woulfe on the 3rd of December, 1976
with a Dublin reg. XYI 552 he drove it until he bought a new Toyota in 1994 and I
bought it from the salesman who had it in his garden for a year intending to
restore it a some stage but decided he didnt have the time. As you can see I changed
the colour to a VW Polo green (pistassio)?? I wanted to leave it as original as possible
so I just replaced the bumpers with J bars and lowered it a little and put a set of Empi's on.
The interior is the the same other than a change of colour from Grey to Black trim and
different carpets. The engine is the same one from new and has 128,000 miles on and is as
fresh as ever. It never fails to start and I can get 90 mph out of it when no one is looking :).
I would like sometime to do a body off restoration and really make it as new as possible.
I really love it and never want to sell it as it took me 26 years to get another Beetle.
I had a '55 Oval when I was 14 that ended up as a Stock car :(( and I regretted it ever since.

twin Kadrons, mild cam, lowered front springs, heavy front + rear sway bars.
Flat Four Sprint Stars, steering wheel and Eliminator shifter, Sewfine interior.
JVC CD changer with 12 Axton speakers. Too much to list... please see

Also have 1971 1302LS Convertible, chassis no.-151 2203 353,
Brilliant Orange, Black interior - this car is in a bad state but resto. is on the cards
for summer. Its a US import.
