A 5.5x15
wheel with bright polished rim and optional spoke colours.
VolksWorld
Magazine recommend a front tire size for a 1302 of
185/55 x 15 and a rear size of 195/60 x 15 on 5.5 wheels to give
a combination of improved cornering and good handling.
Continental of Germany
suggest their CH90(H) or CV90(V) tire for the 185/55
and their EcoContact CP in H or V, CH90 or CV90 for the 195/60.

Available from Flat 4
and Java in silver,
this stripe kit was a standard
item on the Empi
GTV. Each
kit consists of 26 pieces of stripes and 14
pieces of graphic decals. Flat 4 items
now difficult to find.
The Baja Champion SE featured Bosch round driving
lamps.
Bosch currently produce
the Touring 190 190mm - yellow or clear lensed fog and
driving lamps. Part nos - fog: clear - 0 305 900 005; fog: yellow - 0 305
900 006
driving: clear - 0 306 901 005; driving: yellow 0 306 901 006 or
the Rallye 22 225mm - a clear lensed halogen fog/driving lamp - respective
part nos.

Interior.
Dash panel
sets are available for various combinations
of gauge layout on lhd vehicles. A similar type of gauge layout
was a dealer option in South Africa.
Flat 4 provide a Dash
Panel set for rhd vehicles. However, if you are
fitting the VDO Tachometer then the relevant hole in the panel is too large.
This can be adapted with the use of a 1300 engine head shim.
Flat 4 items now difficult to find.
Gear
shifts
An original
VW Dealer walnut sports shifter accessory.
Gene Berg
shifter.
For a 40 per cent shorter and more precise throw, reverse lock-out -
acknowledged to be the best by VW drag racers.
Eliminator
shifter.
A Flat 4 reproduction
as fitted to the EMPI GTV.
Flat 4 items
now difficult to find.
Wiper delay device.
An optional
extra on '72 vehicles but difficult to find. The Rabbit/Golf Mk.1 ('74-'76)
and
Porsche 924 ('76) wiper stalk (111 953 519G) offers this function and is a straight
fit onto the '72
column. You will also need the relevant relay (VW part no. 321 995 531A) and
wiring.

These classic Porsche
leather 3 and 4 spoke steering wheels are an excellent 'in-spirit'
replacement for the standard plastic '72 Safety wheel - and look especially good against a padded
dash. Some may however have to be re-splined to fit. My own 3 spoke came
with a VW boss
and was otherwise a straight fit onto the Super steering column. The 3 spoke
was in use right
through the '70s up to 1986.
