The car has always been in the family; my uncle bought it in 1971, and after a few years my mother was driving the car. I am the owner of the car since 1986.
In 1992 I built my first engine for the car; a type 1, big bore 1776cc, 044 heads, 308degrees cam, 40 IDF webers, a countered crank, an external oilcooler etc. I also replaced the original (AM) gearbox for a DC gearbox. The car was running great with the 90 horsepowers! After a while I wanted to have more speed. A lot of Germans drove a type 4 engine with a 911 cooling!! That was my goal.
In 1995 I started to build that engine. I brought a type 4 crankcase to Ahnendorf (BAS) in Germany and it was fully overhauled and prepared for a 911 cooler. I bought a new crank, 312 degrees cam, new pistons and cylinders (94.5 mm), the cylinder heads are fully overhauled with new valves, seat inserts and heavy duty valve springs. The crank and flywheel are balanced. The carbs are new Weber 44's IDF.
The exhaust system is from B.A.S. The engine is running great with 140 horsepower. Other details of the car:
It is lowered 50 mm, disc brakes in front with type 4 claws, 16inch Fuchs wheels, front 6J with 195/50/16 Pirelli, rear 7J with 205/55/16 Pirelli Porsche 914 tacho and speedometer, VDO oil pressure, oil temperature and fuel gauges, Porsche 911 seats, and no backseat anymore, a yellow optima powerblock for my hifi system The hifi system: A Pioneer head unit with DSP (digital sound processor). The system is actively filtered The amps are from Nakamichi; a monoblock for the two 10 inch Nakamichi subwoofers, A two channel amp for the woofers and a two channel amp for the midrange speakers and tweeters. This are the details of my car. At this moment I have already started a new project with my car. The body and underframe are seperated now. A few spots have to be welded and the car will be painted again in L31 F Iberischrot. It has to be perfect!!! Greetings - Michel Mers: m.gmers6@freeler.nl |
